501 It is probable that the KELER family is the same as the KELLER and KEILER family of future generations. At the time of Zelik's birth Jewish people in Poland did not have surnames. The Jewish naming system would have been Pinchus ben Zelik (Pinchus son of Zelik). The Polish Pinchus Zelikowicz means Pinchus son of Zelik. The surname KELER has been added for clarity as to the family line being followed. KELER Zelik (I2365)

502 It is this generation of Jewish people that were forced, by the Russian authorities, to take surnames. For reasons that are not clear the children of Szlama and Itka chose either the name KIKMAN or the name KAUFMAN.  KIKMAN Szloma Herzkowicz (I2361)

503 It it only my supposition but Nathaniel could have been Noah. In later life he could have changed his name and dated his birth after his parents arrived in England. I have no documents that even infer this but cannot find any documentation relating to his early life. RICHENBERG Nathaniel (I3743)

504 Itka's eighth child was born in 1839.  KELER Itka Pinchesowna (I2362)

505 Itka's husband's death certificate gave her age as 16 years in 1844 KELER Itka Pinchesowna (I2362)

506 Itzik's son Berko had a son named Itzik born 1 January 1889. Presumably Itzik died before this date. PRESMA Itzik (I3014)

507 J.Z and K.Z met Ben on 18 July 2003 who told the following story:-

During WWII he was sent to England on a troop ship and was stationed in England. On D+30 ( i.e. 30 days after the first Normany landings) he embarked from Southampton for France to join the invasion force. The ship moored close to the shore off Omaha Beach. They had to debark into waist high water and wade to land under fire from the Germans

Whilst in France he earned a bronze medal. General Patton was planning a major battle and the rate that the attack could progress depended upon getting supplies from Omaha beach head. Ben was a first lieutenant and his commandanding officer explained the front that was being planned including the fact that there were two roads to the front, one into the battle area and one away from it. His superior told Ben that he had until 8 a.m. the next morning to come up with a written plan to aid the attack. Ben suggested setting up a chain of 12 radio stations that could advise Paton of the progress. Paton liked the idea and told Ben's boss to impliment the plan. The battle was in two days and they discovered that they could not find any radio operators. Ben set up a school and taught them in two days - no code, plain English. Ben though the battle was St Lo.

514 Jacobs birth date is shown differently on different documents.
The earliest was the 1897 First All Russian Census which gives it as 1878. This date was often an estimate by the census taker based upon the apperance of the person.
When he arrived in the USA aboard the ship the Etruria from Liverpool, England on 12 Aug 1905 the manifest stated that he was 22 years old. This would make 1883 as his birth year.
His WWII draft registration gave the date as 11 February 1881.
His social security details show 11 February 1882. This date is also used on his death certificate.
