      The 1920 US Census shows:-

      a) They lived in rented accomodation
      b) The family consisted of Max aged 35, Fanny aged 32, Jenny J aged 13, Lillian aged 11 ( I assume that this is Lena), Sadie aged 9, Morris aged 8, Bessie aged 5 and Helen S aged 3 together with a sister Gertrude Levitt aged 18. (I assume Gertrude Levitt was Gertrude Liftin).

      .
    • Yarzheit: 26 Nisan
    • Jeanie and Lena's birth cerificates give mother's maiden name as PRESMAN. I think that it may have been PRESMA or PREZMA which was Michel's mother's maiden name and that Michel and Fanny were cousins.
    • Occupation: in 1897 First All Russian Census it states that Michael was a shoemaker.
    • In an e-mail dated 15 Dec 2007 Glenn SADIN stated that his father Leonard gave Michel's name as Moishe. This was Michel's grandfather's brother's name. Moishe is Yiddish for Moses and was probably Michel's Hebrew name. The Latvian State Archive gave his name as Michel. On Jeannie's birth certificate he used the name Michael whilst in USA he was known as Max
    • In an e-mail dated 17 December 2007 Glenn Sadin wrote that Leonard was born in the family apartment in Spanish Harlem, the family lived in South Bronx for a few years and then moved to Bennett Ave, Washington Heights in the 1930's where they lived until the mid 70's
