Johnathan Schofield said that Sid had told him that he was a very good boxer who fought under the name of Kid Jakes. He was going to USA to fight. Immediately before going he was fighting in Brighton. His opponent managed to split his nose open by catching his nose on the glove laces. The fight was stopped. Sid went home by himself on the train and then by bus. When she saw the state of his face his mother stopped him from boxing again. Alan Taylor said that Johnathan should not ask Sid about boxing because in the night that he told this story he started boxing in his sleep and hit his wife Ann.
Jeannie Scholfield said that after Sid and Ann were bombed in the war they lived in the same house and Morrie and Regina and Myer and Muriel. Jacqui Zerdin said that one day there was an arguement in the house and Anne emptied a bucket of water over Muriel's head. Soon after Sid and Anne were given a pre-fab near Victoria Park by the Council.
Johnathan said that one of his favorite " Sid " stories was when the family went to Epsom for the Derby when Sid was in his 70's. Sid was seperated from the rest of the family and had nothing else with him apart from loose change in his pockets. After a couple of hours looking for them he wandered into a hospitality tent. Quickly an official asked him who he was and Sid explained that he had lost his family and was hungry and the man said that he could help himself to food. Sid then resumed his search to no avail so he took himself home by bus. When he got home he climbed up an external builders scaffold to get onto his balcony of his fourth floor flat. As the doors to the balcony were locked he broke a window to get into the flat. Meanwhile the rest of the family remained at Epsom until all the crowd had left still looking for Sid not leaving until dusk before returning home to find Sid watching television from the armchair. | TOBOVITCH AKA SID TAYLOR Sydney (I2487)

JRI fax dated 20 June 2003 spelt name Sora Marim. The transliteration of her son Abram Shlomo's birth certificate is Marim. Alexander Beider's book The Dictionary of Ashkenazic Given Names implies that her name could have been a Russian transliteration of a German spelling of Miriam which we have now transliterated back to English as Mariem.
Abram Shlomo's birth certificate gives her age as 30 when he was born. This gives her birth year as 1854. Elliot PONCHICK gives her birth year as 1855 and death as 1940. I have therefore accepted these dates.
