- LEJA FEYGA MARRIED MEJER 18 AUGUST 1868.
BASIA AND ABRAMS'S BIRTH CERTIFICATES SHOWS THERE MOTHER AS LEJA FEYGA IN HER 35 YEARS OLD
THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR FYSZK AND PINCHES BOTH SHOW THE MOTHER AS PERLA ITKA NEE KIKMAN AGE 42 AND 45 YEARS.
I CAN FIND NO OTHER RECORD FOR PERLA NOR A DEATH CERTIFICATE FOR LEJA FEYGA.
CHAJA GITLA, BORN BETWEEN FYSZK AND PINCHES, SHOWS HER MOTHER AS ITA GERSZKOWNA AGE 37 YEARS.
AT THE PRESENT TIME I HAVE LEFT LEJA FEYGA AS THE ONLY MOTHER WHILE I TRY TO RESOLVE THE FACTS.

- [S3] Marriage Certificate, Nowogrod Registry M7/1868 Zbojna (Reliability: 2).
It happened in the town of Nowogrod on 19th August 1868 at 4 pm.
He appeared, the Jew, Herszek PELTROWICZ, the Rabbi of the Nowogrod Jewish Community, accompanied by the witnesses, the Jews, Joszko Jankielowicz ROZENBAUM,shamus, age 64, and Kuszel Lejbowicz CHMIELEWISKI,worker, age 59, both residents of the town of Nowogrod, and announced that on that day in front of him a religious marriage has been concluded between Mejer Abramowicz EJZENBERG, bachelor, 19 years old, born in the village of Morgowniki, son of Abram Jankielowicz, a peddler (or a dyer) and Leja Mejerowna married EINBERG, and Leja Fejga Herszkowna KIKMAN, maiden, 19 years, born in the village of Zbojna, as a daughter of Herszko Szmulowicz KAUFMAN, tailor, and Jenta Szolimowna, married KAUFMAN. (query from her birth matrimonial - see note below)
The marriage was preceeded by three announcements published in the Synagogue of Nowogrod during the services on Shabbas days in 1st, 8th, 15th June this year to all the people gathered for payers. The verbal permission for the marriage was given by both parents of the newly-weds, who attended the ceromony. No rereservations towards the marriage were registered.
The newly weds declared that no marriage agreement had been concluded.
Then the document, upon being read aloud to the clients, was signed by the Rabbi and the witnesses. The newly weds declared that they were illiterate.
Illiterate, in this context, meant that they could not sign their names in cyrillic script. The witness Kuszel was a witness at Chiam Ber KIKMAN and Syma KIKMAN's birth registrations, both in 1879 and declared at than time that he was illiterate.
Translated by Andrzej SELER July 2009 and September 2009.
I his September 2009 translation Andrzej states that Leja used her maiden name because she had not registered her marriage. Later after the marriage is registered the child's surname could be changed to the father's name.
