  • Notes
    • Sandra KUTNER said that this brother of Sarah FOX died whilst a young man in Poland after having four children. The eldest daughter married in Poland and took her three siblings to live with her in Poland whilst her mother went to USA. When the eldest son reached conscription age he left Poland to join his mother in USA. Unfortunately he was not allowed in at Ellis Island and went to Mexico eventually working his way up to New York. In the mean time his mother remarried and sent money for her two youngest children to join her. The two children were Ruth aged about 13 and her brother Philip aged about 10. They travelled by train alone from Poland to London where their uncle, Sarah FOX's brother, met them. He took them up to Liverpool and put them on a boat to New York where their mother, Ruth, had married a Russian called Norman SHYCHTER. (Other possible spellings SCHICHER or SCHICHTER)

The daughter that remained in Poland was murdered by the nazi's with her 15 year old daughter.

Sandra and Henry KUTNER met Ruth and Norman in 1980's at Jones Beech, New York where she lived. She said that even at that time she had a very thick accent. Ruth had a daughter Jean and three grand-daughters two of whom were engineers. Zena GOW had a picture of Philip, which I have copied that triggered this memory.
