Notes |
- The 1911 Census shows the following people living at 7 Cross Street, St George in the East, London:-
Isaac STONE head of family, age 41, married 22 years, six children, four still alive, gentlemans tailor, out of work, previously a resident of Mishivits, nationality Russian
Millie STONE, wife age 40 from the same place
Sarah STONE, daughter and 19, single, felling hand, ladies tailoring, from the same place
Alfred STONE, son, age 15, single, apprentice to gentlemans tailor, from the same place,
Polly STONE, daughter, age 12, single, student, from the same palce
Esther STONE, daughter, age 2 months, born London St. Georges.
The birth place for Isaac STONE is the same as shown for Chanuch FOX. When Debbe ZERDIN died Essie STONE placed an announcement in the Jewish Chronicle for her "cousin"
- The 1911 Census shows Isaac, Millie, Sarah, Alfred and Polly all born in Mishenits, Poland. In 2007 Mick FOX told me that his father was born in Myszyniec, Poland although the 1911 Census states that Henry FOX was German. Myszyniec, Mishenits, Mishenitz, Mishinyets and Mishnits are all the same shtetl which have a Jewish population of 600 in 1938.Essie STONE described herself as a cousin of Debbie Zerdin, who was the daughter of Sarah FOX who was Henry FOX's sister. This provides reasonable evidence that Myszyniec was, at least for a period of time, the home of the FOX family.
