- The 1911 Census of England and Wales shown Isaac RICHENBERG as having eight chidren with his wife Hannah and three step-children. His wife was 36 years old in 1911 and the eldest step-daughter was 27. It is therefore reasonable to assume that his first wife died in Poland where he remarried and had more children before coming to England.
The Census states the following:-
Living in 3 rooms were 5 males with ages between Max at 24 years and Solly at 5 years (excluding Isaac)and 8 females between Esther at 27 years and Jockabed and Shifra at 5 weeks ( excluding Hannah aged 36).
The address although not stated was probably 34 Heneagle Street Sp[italfields.
Isaac RICHENBERG, head of household, age 47, married 19 years (to Hannah)with nine children born alive but one dead, a dealer in rags born in Praga, Poland.

The Census records that Isaac and Hannah have been married for 19 years. It also shows that Jessie was aged 19. It is therefore possible that Jessie's mother died in childbirth and that Isaac remarried very quickly, because, at the time he was 28 years old with three children under the age of 8. Hannah would have been 17 years old when she was married and might have been a sister or cousin of Jessie's mother.
There is also a 5 year gap between the births of Max and Jessie that indicate possibly a child that had died.
The Census also shows that Isaac and Hannah had a child that had died before the 1911 Census.
