- The Ellis Island Passenger Lists shows arriving with her mother Rochel KIKMAN. A Hebrew from Poland. Place of residence Zbojna, Poland, Arrival date 5 July 1921 age 20 years, female, single, traveling on a ship named Hudson from Danzig, West Prussia.
- In an e-mail dated 17th March 2018 Cynthia Kaufman Noble wrote
"My grandmother Rose (her English name) was born in November of 1901 according to the document. What I heard was that her birthday was celebrated on the Hebrew calendar - and the date difference created some confusion, because it never occurred on the same Julian calendar day. She was beautiful. 5?0. Dark hair and turquoise blue eyes. Fantastic laugh and smile. She was active in Haddassah and the Temple. She lived in Dade County, Miami in her later years, after she left Spring Valley. Looking back on our conversations, she was very traumatized by what happened to her parents or grandparents. She was in her 70s when she told me the story. She spoke of her ?Father?being run thru with a sword and left to die on the steps of the temple for three days. She spoke of her ?Mother? pssibly perishing in a fire. She also refers to her Mother as Channah. So that was confusing to me. The names Miriam and Rachel also were spoken of. There was confusion about my Hebrew name - my Mother told me it was Channah Miriam, but Grandma Rose vehemently(!!!!) insisted it was Channah Rachel named for her side of the family. Rachel was eaiser to write in Hebrew than Miriam, so I went with that and made my grandmother happy.

Person ID 1239 - Chana Kikman - in your records, there is a passenger list with Chana and two of her children. Rochel and Anna. Rochel is Rose, my grandmother. Louis Kaufman is the son (brother) they were coming to see in NYC. The date also matches my grandfather Avrum?s (now Abraham) Naturalization information about the timing of Rose?s arrival, and their marriage certificate in NY registry of brides and grooms.
