| Notes |
Name:
- The United Synagogue interview notes for the marriage of Solomon Kikman to Sarah Fox stated that Solomon had "two brother Henoch on Pinchas who will not be at the wedding."
Hanoch was, I believe, Henry KAUFMAN who was in USA.
My first view was that this could not be the Pinchas that Solomon referred to at the United Synagogue interview as he was older than Solomon's mother. However, I obtained Solomon's parent's marriage certificate. This refers to his father Herzka being married before to Enta Szlominowicz. This ties in Pinches's parents as Yenta and Herzka KIKMAN
Died:
- Thr United Synagogue notes for the marriage of Solomon KIKMAN to Sarah FOX refers to Pinchas not attending the wedding. therefore he was still alive at that time.

It appeared the Jew Herszek Szlamowicz KIKMAN, tailor, 28 years old, accompanied by the witnesses the Jews Zelman Abramowicz GRODNER, worker, age 62, and Szmul Szolimowicz ZUCHIEWICZ, tailor, age 56, both residents from the town Nowogrod, and showed us a child of a male gender announcing that he had been born in the village Zbojna on 28th February / 11th March 1841, at 8 a.m., of his lawful wife Jenta Szolimowna, 35 years old.
He did not register the birth of this child in a proper term he was travelling to villages around and he did not know about the duty to register childīs birth at the office of civil administration in town.
During the ceremony of circumcision this child was given the name Pinches.
Then the document, upon being read aloud to the client and the witnesses, was signed by the witnesses. The client explained that he could not write.

- [S3] Marriage Certificate, Nowogrod Registry year 1859 Akt 10 (Reliability: 3).
It happened in town Nowogrod on 25th August (6th September), 1859, at 3 p.m. He appeared the Jew Hersz PELTEROWICZ, Rabbi of the Nowogrod Kahal, accompanied by the witnesses the Jews: Joszko Jankielowicz ROZENBAUM, a shames, age 50, and Zelman Abramowicz GRODNER, a shames, age 70, both residents of the village Nowogrod, and announced that today, in front of him, a religious marriage had been concluded between the Jew Pinches Herszkowicz KIKMAN, bachelor, 18 years old, a labourer, born in the village of Zbojna, district Hupisko?, and still living there with his parents, son of Herszek Szlamowicz and Jenta Szolimowna married name KICKMAN, tailors, and Bajla Ryfka Nisonowna BRUKIEWICZ, maiden, 18 years old, born and still living with her parents in town Nowogrod, daughter of Nison Herszkowicz and Zlota Fajbusiowna, family name BRUKIEWICZ, labourers.
This marriage was preceeded by three announcements published in the synagogue of Nowogrod on Sabbath days 1st/13th , 8th/20th and 15th/27th August this year. No reservations towards the marriage were registered. The verbal permission for the marriage was of the newly-weds, who also declared that no marriage agreement had been concluded.
Then this document was read to the clients and signed by the rabbi, who celebrated the marriage ceremony and witnesses. The newly-weds declared that they were illiterate.
Clerk of the Civil Administration.
(various signatures)
There are two dates for each event as the records had both the Julian and Gregorian calenders. The second date is the Gregorian and is the one that we use.
A shames is an official from a Synagogue.
Illiterate can reflect that the newly-weds do not read Russian. It is possible that they read Hebrew or Yiddish and were still classified as illiterate.
