At time of 1897 First All-Russian Census Eida lived in the house of Malkiel, Varaklyanskaya Street, Vilyani, Latvia
Helana Harbott in her e-mail stated that Eida was born in 1840. The Latvian State Archive gives 1843 as her birth year. Her death certificate gives age as 77 years making birth year 1841. Whichever is true she was over 50 yrs old when she came to England. The 1911 Census shows Ada born in 1841.
Linda Anderson (descendant of Michael Caidan's wife's family) conirmed that Ada Caidan lived at 131 Victoria Park Road, was a member in her own right and a seat holder in South Hackney Synagogue in 1910.
Death certificate says Morris Caiden present at death.

I have assumed that Yossel-Haim's son Yossef was named after him and that Yossel-Haim died whilst Eida was pregnant. I only heard about the son Yossef from Gerald Caiden who in turn had been told about him from his Israeli cousins in December 2002. As Yossef died during WW1 he was probably born before 1900.
Subsequently Alexsandra Fiegmanis (a Latvian genealogist and guide and a descendant of the Presma family i.e Deborah Caiden's mothers family) has sent me photographs of a stone in Varaklani cemetry of Josef Haim b Abraham d. 5659 which I calculate as 1899. Before the birth of Jacqui there was a boy call Jack born at Willersley Castle, Matlock, Derbyshire who died at birth.
Jacqui Zerdin said that her mother told her that relatives from Manchester went to Australia in two groups. The first when Sadie was a child wanted to take her with them. The second group in the early 1950's. One of these was an undertaker. Jacqui was not sure if emigrants were the ZAVADSKY or the RICHENBERG family.

Sid was a stalwart member of Boundary Road Synagogue. It gave him enormous pleasure particularly if he was given one of the honours during the service.He went there most Saturday mornings as well as all the holidays. Even though he went to football in the afternoons in my younger days or to see his children after they were married he went to the synagogue first. It was Sid who took me to my first football match ( Leyton Orient v Port Vale in the F.A.Cup) and I have supported the Orient ever since.
My memories of Sid were always of a gentle kind thoughtful man. As my father's brother he was a very important part of my life after my parents died. He and Polly together with Max and Margie Hickman helped through those difficult years. They took on board the responsibility and showed the love that I know they felt. On the night before my wedding I slept in Sid and Polly's house and left from there to the Synagogue. After we were married and lived in Highwood Gardens they visited us most Saturdays after seeing both of their children Adrienne and David together with their families. For us this was an important time when our children were very young and they helped create the extended family that was needed for our children with only one grandparent. KZ
